God’s Oven: Trusting His Timing

We’ve all had moments where we pulled something out of the oven too soon. Maybe it looked ready on the outside, but when we cut into it, we realized it wasn’t finished. Life feels like that sometimes. We step forward too quickly, act before the season is ready, or try to rush what only time and heat can finish.

Ecclesiastes 3 tells us, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” That means there really is such a thing as God’s oven. He is the One in charge of timing, seasoning, and process. We may think something is ready because we’re tired of waiting, but God sees deeper. He knows what still needs to be developed, shaped, or strengthened. When He says it’s done, it’s truly ready. Until then, our job is to wait and trust.

Joseph’s story in Genesis is a striking reminder. He spent years in prisons and pits, waiting on promises that seemed delayed. Yet when the time was right, God lifted him up in a single day and placed him in Pharaoh’s court. Nothing was wasted — not the waiting, not the apparent missteps, not even the betrayals. God was cooking something bigger than Joseph could have imagined.

So if you find yourself in a season that feels “half-baked,” don’t lose heart. Trust the One who knows the oven. He’s not late, and He doesn’t forget what He’s making. His timing is perfect, and when He calls it ready, it will be beautiful and complete.
