How Much does counseling cost?
Standard sessions operate on a suggested donation basis of $75. To help you get started, your very first session is entirely free and no donation is required ($0 due now or at service)—though offering a donation for our time is certainly appreciated if you choose to do so. Ongoing donations during the counseling process help sustain this work.
Because that time is reserved exclusively for you, we do require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Please note that late cancellations (less than 24 hours) and no-shows will be charged a standard $75 fee to respect the reserved slot.

Why is counseling expensive?
Christian counseling rates per session typically range from $75-$150 in Lubbock. It is hard put a price on the spiritual and emotional benefits that often result from investing in counseling. Frankly, counseling is expensive because it is extremely valuable. Rather than charging standard fees, our ministry asks you to commit to a suggested donation amount to support our work and show appreciation for the counseling service provided.
Do You Take Insurance?
We don’t bill insurance because our counseling is faith-based and doesn’t include clinical diagnosis. We welcome those who want others to get the help they need to donate to Real Life Christian Counseling on a regular basis.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
HOW LONG DO SESSIONS LAST?
Sessions are usually 60 minutes.
Do you counsel minors (17 and under)?
Counseling is not available for those 17 and under, except in rare, approved cases.
What is pastoral counseling?
Pastoral counselors in Texas are exempt from the Licensed Professional Counselor Act under Section 503.056 of the Texas Occupation Code, if they are employed or volunteer as a counselor with a public or private non-profit organization or charity, remain accountable to their sponsoring organization, and do not hold themselves out to be a counselor licensed by the Texas Board of Professional Counselors. Our counselor, Lee Higginbotham, is a National Christian Counselors Association Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor / Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor. He is not a state licensed professional counselor (LPC). This is Bible-based, spiritual counseling and not the practice of psychology, state-licensed professional counseling, psychotherapy or a state-licensed marriage and family therapy or social work. The counseling philosophy and approach provided is Jesus-centered. RLCC is a ministry that offers biblical Christian counseling, hope, and practical help.
do you OFFER marriage or couples counseling?
No, our counselor is only seeing indivduals for counseling at this time.
WHAT IF I CAN'T AFFORD IT?
We'll work with you. Typically, we'll ask you to commit to an amount you are willing to donate consistently: $55, $45, or $35 per session after the first session which requires no donation commitment. Our ministry is designed to help people and never turn anyone away because of financial hardship.
